Ms.Deepa Shah Chaki is a social entrepreneur, mental health counselor and wellness professional based in Kolkata.She is part of various independent people’s movements for social causes. She organises wellness workshops where she integrates healing therapies like art, music, lifestyle, dance movement and drama for physical and emotional wellness. Deepa shares her love for nature with her teenage son, her best friend and strong supporter. She promotes locally made handcrafted, handmade, home grown products from all over India through her company Indiahaat.in and lifestyle brand Kuumba – A Way of Life, to support and empower our country’s farmers,weavers, artisans and craft communities. Making documentaries on various social subjects is one of her many passions.

Indiahaat.in was launched in 2009 as an online store to promote and sell handmade, homegrown products like tea, spices, jewellery, handlooms, handicrafts etc. within the country and worldwide. The driving force behind the project was to ensure easy accessibility to premium quality goods and help the urban population within the country and overseas to acquire a piece of our country’s rich culture, tradition, heritage and be a proud owner of handmade and handcrafted products made by our supremely skilled and talented artisans.

Within a year of its inception, Indiahaat.in was nominated for the ‘Rashtriya Ratna Udyog Award’ by the ‘National Education & Human Resource Development Organisation’ and the ‘Council for Economic Growth & Research’, India. This encouraged us to work harder and continue on our journey ahead. To move with the times and cater to the modern tastes and preferences, we started a lifestyle brand Kuumba – A Way of Life in 2019. The business model for Kuumba was to be available both online and offline to provide a more enriching shopping experience for the consumers.
